Just north of Barcelona, Catalonia features medieval villages, Mediterranean views, and the exceptional, surprising, surreal legacies of Dalí and Gaudí.

When we’re not appreciating such iconic art and architecture, or sipping Catalan wines, we’re enjoying the superb biking. Small, well-paved secondary roads are well accustomed to cyclists—as is the stunning Camino de Ronda, which hugs the Costa Brava. Everywhere, Catalonia’s unique culture infuses the experience.

While in the area, we typically stay at the family-run Hotel Mas Falgarona and the elegant Mas de Torrent Hotel & Spa. We bike in the mornings when the air is cool and the winds are low, then spend afternoons exploring the towns, indulging in spa treatments and, of course, practicing our Catalan.
