A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995, the charming city boasts outstanding hotels, top restaurants, striking scenery, and a unique blend of Lao and French Provincial architecture. Adding to the city’s picture postcard quality are myriad pagodas and scores of monks who take to the streets each morning.
From La Résidence Phou Vao or Amantaka, we like to cycle along the paved rolling roads to the Pak Ou Caves, where hundreds of miniature wooden Buddhas line the limestone walls—or to Kuang Si waterfalls for a swim in emerald waters. On foot, discover one of the many Hmong or Upland villages to see local artisans at work or taste rice whisky. Meandering home via riverboat is a magical end to the day.
"It was a lucky day that I met Cari Gray. I felt luckier still when I phoned her about designing a bespoke bike trip for my clients over the Christmas holidays--with just two months to get it done-- and she said yes! Perhaps luckiest of all were my clients, who got to experience the best trip possible to Laos and Cambodia. Gray & Co. goes the extra mile all day long! I have NEVER dealt with a more thorough, honest, caring, supportive, and professional company. I was thrilled from beginning to end!"
